G.D.P.R - General Data Protection Regulation

Footpairfect Podiatry is a healthcare business providing private podiatry services to the general public on a fee paying basis.

What happens to my personal data when I contact you either on your website or social media (facebook) page?

Anyone contacting Footpairfect Podiatry through these methods will only have their data used for the purposes of your enquiry or to answer any questions you may have. Your derails will only be registered and held on file if you become a registered patient with this practice.

What do I do with information you provide me with at your first appointment?

Podiatry is a medical treatment and requires both personal and medical information to be taken and stored. Medical records have to be completed accurately keeping in line with UK law and to fulfill the requirments of the HCPC the regulator of podiatry and chiropody. At your first appointment some personal details such as your name, address, date of birth, telephone number, email address and the name of your GP and medical practice details are required. Information such as where you heard about the practice may also be noted. This allows me to provide health services (podiatry) to my patients, to maintain my accounts and to promote my services.

You will be provided with my practice new patient information leaflet which provides information about podiatry and how your personal information is used and stored along with some other information.

Please Note: If you do not wish to give your consent, then it will not be possible to carry out any podiatry assessment or treatment.

Information held about patients may include:

  • personal information

  • family details

  • lifestyle/social information

  • physical and mental health information

  • ethnic origin

  • goods and services purchased from me

  • financial transactions

In ordr to provide you with appropriate podiatric services I am required to ask you about your health, lifestyle, medical history and medical conditions along with any medication you take. These questions have relevance to your feet and foot health and allow me to provide patients with the most appropriate and safest treatments.

Once you are registered with Footpairfect Podiatry as a patient there is a legal requirement to keep your medical notes for a certain period of time after the last date you finish treatment. This can vary in length depending on your age and ability to consent, but this will be for a minimum of 8 years. Your details will be destroyed and removed from file after this period.

Who else might your information be shared with if necessary or required ?

  • Your general practitioner or other health professional as part of your care.

  • Your parent if you are under 16 or welfare guardian/carer with your consent if you require additional support to attend an appointment.

 

  • Where it assists with the administration of the practice by providing you with an efficient service, and keeping you informed and updated with information regarding the practice.

 

  • When using your contact details to assist with the administration of your appointments/changes to scheduled appointments and/or reminders about appointment.

You will also be given the opportunity to receive information about special offers or new services. Any information provided is confidential and will never be shared or sold to any third party for marketing purposes.

Your privacy is taken seriously and all reasonable steps will be taken to ensure the protection of your data. Footpairfect Podiatry went digital in 2018 and all records are stored securely in line with the law. Please note that your right to be forgotten cannot override the legal requirments to keep medical notes for the mandatory period.
